Seven Signs Of A Poverty Mentality

Matt 26:11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

Let me begin with the genesis of this blog. I’m having my weekly haircut, beard trim, and shoeshine when my shoeshine guy said something that was absolutely profound. You’ve heard me talk about Grady before. He was a pimp, drug dealer, user, and spent time in prison. Somewhere along the line he turned his life around and became a fine Christian. But he’s still “street”—I say that in the best possible of ways. What he said caused me to start thinking about what constitutes a poverty mentality. And I came up with seven signs. The thing that Grady said is number two.

Prosperity and poverty have little to do with the amount of money that you make or have in the bank. They are mentalities. If you have a prosperity mentality you will prosper regardless of your circumstances. I’ve proven that to be true and taught others do the same. If you have a poverty mentality all the money in the world will not make you prosperous. I hope that the person that recently won the largest lottery in history has a prosperity mentality—if not they will end up like so many other lottery winners, broke.

As you read remember this—I love poor people, I just don’t want to be one. I have said for many years “I don’t care if poor people come to our church; I just don’t want them to stay poor.” Some have misinterpreted that, (probably because they have a poverty mentality!), to mean that I don’t want poor people in the church. Au contraire—I want poor people to come to our church, hear what I teach, apply it to their lives and prosper. And if they consistently, and conscientiously apply what I teach they will. As many have. Anyone will. If they get it. Which is why Jesus said— “unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.”

Join me “Behind The Door” as I share “Seven Signs Of A Poverty Mentality.” It’s the beginning of the month so you’ll need to get the password. Hit the “Sowing” button and sow a seed of any amount into this ministry and you’ll be redirected to the password page. The default setting is $20 but that can be lowered or raised. Remember—“What you sow is what you grow.” When you sow into a ministry you identify with the anointing that is on that ministry. I’ll meet you “Behind The Door.”
