It was an enjoyable meal. Dinner with Reverend Ike, arranged by a mutual friend that I was speaking for. He was urbane and congenial. The meal was fabulous. And the conversation flowed. As enjoyable as it was he really didn’t add anything to my understanding of prosperity. But he did give me a little bon mot to take with me. As we were leaving he said, “I am a money magnet.”
That resonated. Because the truth is you attract money or your repel money through for attitudes, affirmations, and actions. There people that are never going to prosper because they don’t have, and often don’t want to have, the understanding of how prosperity works. You don’t want to be one of those people. (Obviously you’re not—you’re here!). There are people that prosper regardless of the economy because they understand prosperity and have applied themselves to prospering. They know that prosperity isn’t about dollars and cents—it’s an attitude that makes positive affirmations and take prospering actions.
Let’s look at Attitude, Affirmations, and Actions.
“I’ve been broke but I’ve never been poor” is a quote attributed to Ethel Merman but it reflects the attitude of every prospering person. I grew up poor—but I was never poor.
Poverty and prosperity are two opposing attitudes. Give money to someone with a poverty mentality and they will soon be poor again. I’ve seen it happen—too many times. If someone has a prosperity mentality they will live prosperously whatever their income—they just know how and things always seem to work for them. An attitude of poverty repels money. An attitude of prosperity attracts money.
Adjust your attitude! “As he thinketh in his heart, so is he” is right on the money. Or off of the money if you have a negative attitude toward prosperity. So how do you adjust your attitude? First by letting go of any negative feelings that you have about money. Second by opening your mind to the idea that you are a truly prosperous person.
I talked with an ex-millionaire. He said, “I’ll be a millionaire within two years.” He seemed certain of it so I asked him why he was so certain. He said, “I’ve been a millionaire twice already and blew it both times. I know how to make millions—now I know how to keep them.” He made it the third time and kept it. That’s the power of a prosperous attitude.
Words have power. You are your own best expert. Whatever you tell yourself goes into your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind believes anything that you tell it—it’s the non-critical thinking part of your brain. Then your subconscious mind works to act on the mental programming that you’ve programmed it with to make it so. Words have power.
Try this… say out loud “I am a money magnet.” Say it like you mean it. Say it like you feel it. Is it resonating in your soul? It should. I have a whole theology on prosperity that I’ll share in a future blog. Suffice it to say for the moment—God created you to be rich in every dimension of your life. Spiritually. Emotionally. Physically. Financially. Rich. As long as you are saying the opposite it will never be so but when you set yourself in agreement with the Infinite anything can (and will) happen.
The right attitude towards prosperity, along with the right affirmations on prosperity will always lead to actions that create prosperity.
I led this talking about dinner with Rev. Ike. During the meal he explained how he became extravagantly wealthy. He got tired of being poor and studied prosperity. That caused him to want to teach others and began his radio broadcast. He had enough success that he hired a Jewish accountant (his words) who told him that he needed to invest his money in real estate and that the old Palace Theater would be a good piece of property to buy. That led to the formation of his church. As he continued to prosper he was led to invest in the stock market. Not knowing anything about the stock market he “asked the Spirit” (his words) what he should do. He felt led to split his investment between two brokerage firms telling each that whoever brought in the great return would get it all the next year. The rest is history. A change in attitude caused a prosperity mentality that led to prosperous affirmations and actions that caused results. It worked for him—it will work for you.
Think prosperously. Affirm abundance. Do something to prosper. And be a money magnet.
