WHAT YOU SEE… the power of vision
I saw an old car… it was rusted out and three colors of fluid came from under the hood. But the cardboard sign had a scribbled $100 on it and I believed that I could believe for that. Did you get that? I believed that I could believe. So I believed. A few days later the car was gone and all I had was an image.
I couldn’t get the image out of my head. I’d close my eyes and see that car. It followed me in my mind. A few weeks later a man drove the same make and model down to our church. He decided to sell it. A hundred dollars. I offered eighty and bought a pristine old car, tight as a drum, that ran like a sewing machine.
I didn’t understand then what I understand now. (The premise of my book “The Theory Of Everything” and this blog is that I’m sharing now what I didn’t know then.) What I didn’t understand then was the visionary process. That what you see really does become what you get. For good or for ill.
We’re told in Proverbs 4:20 that we should keep our hearts “with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.” Heart refers to your inner being—you human spirit and subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind works continually and constantly to manifest what is set before it. It is the place of visionary process. It is the seat of imagination.
I laid in the bed in our travel trailer and imagined. We weren’t planning on settling down but I imagined that if we did I’d want a brick ranch house with two bathrooms, a formal living room, a family room with a fireplace, and three bedrooms sitting on a half-acre landscaped lot. When we parked the trailer in Lima to begin a church I kept that vision in my heart. It was just a few weeks until, through a series of unusual (dare I say supernatural) circumstances we signed the lease on our house—the very house that I had imagined. “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.” Just as side note—the house that we live in now is a mirror of that first house only much larger. That’s how powerful vision is!
Jesus understood the principle when He outlined the work of the Holy Spirit as “showing you things to come”. Your heart, spirit, subconscious mind, is in tune with the Eternal. It draws from the Eternal into this temporal time space continuum that we call life. Automatically. Whatever you focus on has a way of manifesting. So what are you focusing on?
My challenge to you this week is to focus on one thing and one thing only that you want to see happen in your life. Remember what focus means. As a noun—“the state or quality of having or producing clear visual definition.” As a verb—“pay particular attention to.” Focus on that one thing… soon you’ll be driving the car that you want drive and living where you want to live. Metaphorically as well as actually. Think about it.
I hope that you’ll join me “Behind The Door”. There I’m sharing some strong concepts and exercises that will help you to sharpen your focus to experience the best in life. The seed that you sow gives you access for the entire month. It is an investment that will pay dividends. I’ll meet you “Behind The Door”.
